4.Mangalore

1st of May! We traveled for 9-10 hours. I slept quite well. In Mangalore, we booked a train for the night. We stopped in this city, because there was no bus available to Goa so we came half way long. The plan was to spend the day on the beach and then go to the train station, but some people from the group wondered if we could do something different on the afternoon, because it might get boring.

The guys (Darner, Maxime and Geoffrey) went in the water and Dora planed it too. Ilango and myself wanted to stay with the bags. On the one hand, I didn´t wanted to go, because as a woman you need to wear a t-shirt and long pants for swimming. On the other hand, I wanted to go in with the others. I went to the water to see what I´m missing out and it just had the perfect temperature… One wave got higher than my pants and Darner told me to come in if I´m wet anyway. So, I went in the water with all my clothes on and it was amazing! I wondered why the Indians don´t go deeper in the water… In a couple of minutes I experienced the reason. The waves were extreme strong from one point and it just hit you in the face and get you under it, so you were drowning for 1-2 seconds. I have decided to stay a little closer to the beach.

I was standing and watching the waves when I felt a cut in my hill… It was hurting so bad. I thought for a second that someone cut me with a scissor intentionally. Darner helped me up, because I couldn´t stand for the first few seconds. Then I got myself together, because that was just a crab. I hoped outside on one leg and when I got to our place it was bleeding very much. Ilango brought a big ice cube from the restaurant (good that we sat at their table in the shadows) and Dora kept the ice at my scar. It started to hurt in my whole leg and my stomach as well. I thought it hit a nerve or something and that´s the reason. After finishing the ice (it was as big as 10-12 regular ice cubes), I got another one.

The pain was so intense, that I was near crying. Maxime came outside of the water, looked at me and the scar and said that it was a weever fish (latin name “Echiichthys Vipera”). It stung me and gave me nerve poison… I let out the cry. It was hurting sooo much. Maxime told us that we should put my feet in hot water to get out the poison… Great, we iced it for 15-30 minutes.

Ilango got the boiling water, Maxime put my feet on his lap, Dora held my right arm, Darner held my left arm and Geoffrey observed the whole situation. The hot water did a good job, but only for few minutes. The pain wasn´t constant. It came in waves. One second I didn´t feel anything, the other second my whole leg was in a weird pain and the next second I cried, wishing that my feet was cut off. The phases just changed and it was weird for the others to see, that I´m crying for 5-10 seconds and then I´m feeling okey for a few seconds, and back to crying.

1 and half hours after the sting the pain didn´t get better, so someone suggested me to go to the hospital. It didn´t even crossed my mind to go there… Darner stayed with the bags, while Geoffrey and Maxime carried me to the taxi, that Ilango got for me. The guys carried me barefoot on the HOT sand. I was so worried about them that I didn´t feel the pain. Dora brought my bag with her and her, Ilango and me got in the taxi and went to the hospital, which was 10 minutes away. I got in, still crying in some seconds and they gave me a vaccine (in my but).

We waited for the guys to arrive and sat in the waiting room together for 30 minutes. The pain got better. I didn´t cried anymore, the pain-waves got smaller. We jumped in two taxis (indian riksha), 3-3 people and were at the train station in 45 minutes. I changed my clothes in the bathroom (yes, I was still in my wet and sandy clothes from the sea), the others went to have dinner and Darner and me watched out for the bags. I slept for a bit (was exhausted after this experience) and then got on the train, which taught us, that buses are cleaner and safer in India than trains. Anyway, I slept (not like some of the group) and we arrived in the State Goa at 3.30am. We got a cab and finally around 8am we found a hotel in Baga to stay.

Vérzett a heg. Dóra jeget tett rá, de nem lett jobb es màr szinte sirtam a fajdalomtól. Maxime a vizből kijövet azonnal felismerte a heget es a fajdalom helyét (a hasam es a combom belseje is fájt).
